Brown Announces More Than $2.25M to Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown
(D-OH) today announced $2,257,000 in competitive grants made to the Greater
Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA). The federal funds, made available
through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 are allocated
through the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Transit Investment for
Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reduction program.
“These funds will help make Cleveland
more energy efficient,” Brown said. “By updating important transportation
lines, we can reduce the city’s energy costs and create new jobs.”
These funds will be used to replace and
modify existing equipment to increase energy efficiency and reduce costs. This
conservation project will include replacement of light fixtures, control
systems, and roof upgrades.
