What does the economic recovery package mean for Ohio?

  • A Recovery Act project in PlymouthProvides critical tax cuts for an estimated 4.5 million middle class Ohioans through the Making Work Pay Tax Credit and relief from the Alternative Minimum Tax for 884,000 Ohioans.
  • Provides critical tax relief for middle class Ohioans. The ”Making Work Pay Tax Credit“ will provide up to $400 for individuals and $800 for married couples. An estimated 4.5 million Ohioans will receive tax relief through this credit.
  • Saves money, reduces energy consumption, and creates jobs through energy efficiency programs.
  • Invests $68 million in targeted communities hard hit by job loss and high unemployment by retraining dislocated workers and helping communities build regional industry clusters.
  • Improves education throughout the state by investing in local school districts and public colleges and universities.

Senator Brown also hosted a series of economic recovery workshops across Ohio between March 30-April 7, 2009.   In Portsmouth, Zanesville, Youngstown, Elyria, Mansfield, Lima, and Springfield, Senator Brown’s office held these information sessions to inform Ohioans of opportunities available in the recovery package.   Federal agency representatives participated and were available to answer questions.  To access the agency presentations at these workshops, please click the links below.
