Sen. Brown Announces More Than $3.5 Million to Support Ohio Fire Departments
April 14, 2010
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that $3,559,330 has been awarded to Ohio fire departments by the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program.
"Our first responders put their lives on the line every day across Ohio," said Brown. "These funds ensure that Ohio firefighters have the resources they need to perform their jobs safely."
AFG grants target fire departments and EMS organizations that are unaffiliated with hospitals to enhance their ability to protect the health and safety of the public and first-responder personnel.
The funds can be used for vehicle acquisition as well as operational and safety equipment updates. The chart below details Ohio grant recipients and amounts.
